A Match to Remember!

It was a runaway for sure! India's losing the match against Australia yesterday comes as a shock to every Indian. Navtej Kohli expresses his views about the same....

It was one of his superlative one-day scores, a scintillating 175 off 141 balls, but Sachin Tendulkar never would have thought that with such a great knock he would be standing in the losing camp.

Yes, unbelievable but unfortunately true! Team India, who was chasing a mammoth 351, lost a nearly won match by 3 runs against Australia yesterday.

Even after losing wickets like Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh and Captain M.S. Dhoni at mere 162 runs before even half way through the match, he pushed forward the match with great heroism along with Suresh Raina, who added some much-needed big shots to the score.

Tendulkar-Raina’s 137 run 5th wicket partnership hauled India closer to the victory at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium at Uppal. But just when the match seemed all but lost, the duo perished and the match slipped out of grasp. Raina’s attempt to hoick and Tendulkar’s paddle shot over fine leg inside the circle spelled doom for the match.

Soon after, another 5 wickets were down for 36 runs and the last duo, Praveen Kumar and Munaf Patel, managed to add a meager 12 runs, which also included a timely '6' by the former. The match winded up when the duo got run out.

It was unfortunate that even after such heroic performance by Sachin Tendulkar, which almost pulled off a great win for India yesterday, team India lost the match by just three runs!
